Wasp report April 2011

The warmest April for 100 years has meant that nest and colony development is well advanced and the established colonies are healthy and strong.

It is hard to say whether this will mean a bumper year for wasps as in some circumstances more Queens will have survived the Winter and Spring so there will be more colonies becoming established, but this can mean greater competition for food and building materials between rival colonies and some colonies will be smaller as a result.
