Wasp report March 2012

The mild end to February has continued into March and consequently there are many sightings of large and groggy wasps appearing. These are Queen wasps looking for somewhere nice and safe to build this year’s nest and to start their new colony.

If you have had a history of wasps building nests on or around your home and garden, now is the time to look for them. The Queens start by building the first few cells of the new structure into which they lay some eggs, when these hatch they become the workers and they take over the role of nest building and looking after the eggs that the Queen lays.
