Wasp report October 2013

An unsettled month with showers, spells of rain and some vigorous storms, but still mild.

Most wasp colonies will be in the process of dying off and the Queens will have left the nest to look for somewhere nice and dry nad safe to hibernate over Winter, before emerging next Spring to start next year’s colonies.

A mild Winter followed by a mild and dry Spring would be very beneficial to the UK wasp population and to our gardens bearing in mild the beneficial jobs that wasps carry out for us, killing aphids and caterpillars and flies, pollinating plants and flowers, and annoying your next door neighbours who haven’t invested in Waspinators.
